Tandoori Fish || Baked Fish || How to Make Grill Fish with step-by-step photos
Baked Fish is a classic, flavorful, aromatic Pakistani recipe that is very popular an easy and effortless recipe is ready in about 20 minutes and is prepared with simple tandoori spices to flavor the fish, I have been making this dish for years and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. For this quick and easy recipe, simply mix the ingredients and then fry or tandoor on coal or in the oven. I prefer to use this particular tandoori masala for my tandoori fish recipe.
It has never failed me in taste and finding that particular masala is definitely a hit or miss at most Pakistani grocery stores. ! The following pictures show the process for this particular dish.
I prepared to fish with some seasoning rather than my tandoori masala powder, but you can get the link tandoori masala powder, have given two options to make tandoori fish whatever seems easy can do,
This recipe is made with only 2 tbsp olive oil along with seasoning and cooks on charcoal, Tandoori spice blend, or the Tandoori Masala is just limited to make Tandoori Chicken. This spice blend can be used on fish or other seafood as well,
When you try this Tandoori fish recipe you will see how the flavor comes out, Tandoori Masala is mixed with olive oil marinated, and then grilled on a pan or charcoal as well as If you haven’t tried grilled fish tandoori it’s absolutely delicious, now its time to do.
Firstly
fish is marinated with lime juice and ginger garlic paste, then tandoori
masala is over the fish, right after is marinated for around an hour to keep in

Recipe Tips:
- Tandoori Fish can be baked in the oven at 250 C for 20-30 minutes or depending on your oven temperature
- You can use fish fillet instead of whole fish for that you can bake it for around 15 minutes in the oven and approximately on Charcoal
- Keep remembering in mind one thing whether you are going Bake or BBQ/Grill must keep intense heat both of them because fish is wrapped with a foil sheet however if you keep it to medium heat it will be soggy and soft rather than crispy and flaky
- On the other hand, if you haven’t Oven or facility BBQ Grill you can use a grill pan to cook fish
- For that first of all have to give a smoky flavor to the fish before grilling it on the pan

To prepare this recipe first clean and wash the properly fish
with flour and turmeric powder, you can find out in my previous fish recipes,
make a slit on the fish so that masala could be absorbed properly
Place the fish on any plain surface then marinate the fish with lime juice along with ginger garlic paste keep in the fridge for 10 minutes or until required
How to Burn Charcoal?
- In the BBQ stove place any type of newspaper or any kind of magazine pepper while drizzling some tbsp ghee
- Then lay all large sizes of charcoal over the newspaper then spread the 2nd layer of small size charcoal
Burn the newspaper from downwards besides blowing air through the manual plastic fan or thin cardboard until properly well-heated
Take any mixing plate or bowl then pour some oil
Combine all spices in the mixing plate/bowl
Add food color and salt, and mix them well till everything is incorporated
Make a smooth paste
Marinate the fish with the masala paste
Rub the fish with masala from all sides, and keep in the refrigerator for an hour
Place fish on a silver foil sheet and wrap it very well
Place each fish on a foil sheet separately
Now place wrapped fish in the BBQ grill
Put on Charcoal and barbecue it, cook each side for about 7-8 minutes
Give it to nice tandoori color, cook it on direct charcoal for 3-4 minutes from both sides, then remove it from the charcoal
Transfer to the serving tray and garnish the tandoori fish with lettuce and lemon wedges sprinkle some chaat masala over fish

Ingredients For Marination:
- 2 pcs, whole fish medium-sized or as needed
- 2 tsp, ginger garlic paste freshly ground
- 1 lemon, medium-sized
Ingredients of Spices:
- 1 tsp, red chili powder
- 1 tsp, Kashmiri red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 ½ tsp, crushed coriander seeds
- 1/3 tsp, basic garam masala
- ½ tsp, turmeric powder
- 1 tsp, cumin powder
- 50ml, olive oil or 2 tbsp
- 1 tsp, mango powder
- 3-4 pinches, red food color
Required for Barbecue:
- Charcoal
- Barbecue fish grill
- Match
- Barbecue stove
- Foil silver pepper
- ghee
- newspaper
For Garnishing:
- Lettuce
- Lemon wedges
- Onion slices
- Chaat masala
How to Make the Grill Fish?
- In a mixing bowl/plate combine all ingredients
- Pour oil then add red chili powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, salt, cumin powder,garam masala, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and red food color
- Mix them together as a smooth paste with the help of a spoon
- Must put on a plastic disposable glove at the time of applying masala on fish because you can save your hand this way from the sharpness of spices
- Use glass or melamine pot/tray, never marinate in aluminum
- Pick up a small portion of masala and apply masala over each fish with a gentle hand
- Because fish is delicate be careful
- Marinate the fish with masala from all sides
- Keep in the fridge for marination for around an hour
- Take 5/5 size 2 foil sheets and place each marinated fish separately
- Fish are wrapped and get ready for BBQ
- Now place wrapped fish in the barbecue grill and place it on the charcoal stove
- Grill it on high intense heat of charcoal for around 15 minutes
- After 7-8 minutes turn over the grill and barbecue another side at the same time
- Now remove from the foil and apply some olive oil over the fish then again place on direct charcoal to bring real tandoori color to the fish, around 3-4 minutes is enough it's Optional
- Transfer to the serving tray garnish with lettuce and lemon wedges and sprinkle chaat masala over the fish
- Serve this Tandoori Fish with chapatis, naan, and sauce
