Dal Tadka is full of protein, wholesome and delicious mixed dal, and is an extremely popular dal in Pakistani meal, most household lunch and dinner is considered incomplete without dal, and although its not Dhaba style or roadside restaurant style dal it is delicious its own place, I always love to have this dal with boiled rice and zeera rice alongside some chillies pickles 

I used four types of lentils in it, you have your own choice to choose other lentils that you most like, this is prepared with a few ingredients It’s a mix of 3-4 or even more dal, that are cooked together, then prepared masala separately and tempered with choices of spices and ghee

For many vegetarians or vegans, dal is a great source of protein and fibre. Hence whenever it’s made, I try to incorporate different dal to increase the protein level. A simple and easy when you are sick of eating meat, then this dal would be a good choice to include in your diet 

How to serve it:

Can be served with boiled rice,bagara rice as well as chapatinaan, and tandoori, so let’s begin with step-by-step photos

Firstly rinse and soak all four lentils in the hot water for 20 minutes

Take all ingredients and prepare them all

In a pot put dal with its water ½ tsp turmeric powder,1/4 salt and crushed garlic, bring it to a boil, and remove the scum over the dal

Then let it cook over medium-low flame until lentils are soft, keep stirring occasionally, Take it out in another bowl and keep aside

      I took the same pot for cooking, you can use another pot for cooking and add ghee/oil. Heat it well, then add onion, saute the onion for 3-5 minutes, then add cumin seeds and stir to combine well

      Now add tomato and allow to cook until tomatoes are dissolved, then put all dry spices, keep stirring over medium heat

          Now add remaining spices, and stir to combine them well over low-medium flame until oil is separated, now add boiled lentils along with garam masala powder 

          Mix them together very well, right after add boiled and hot water, Bring it to a boil then cover the lid, at this stage, you can adjust salt

          Now simmer the mixed dal for 5 minutes over very low heat



            Now mixed dal is ready to serve with boiled rice and chapati

            Ingredients:
            1. ½ cup. moong dal
            2. ½ cup, masoor dal
            3. ½ cup, chana dal
            4. ½ cup, Mash dal
            5. 1 tsp, turmeric powder
            6. Salt to taste
            7. 1 tsp, garlic freshly crushed
            For Dal Masala:
            1. 1 large, onion chopped
            2. 1 large, tomato peeled and chopped
            3. 3-4, green chillies
            4. 1 cup, oil/melted ghee
            5. 1/6 tsp, citric acid
            6. 1 tsp, red chilli powder
            7. 1 tsp, coriander powder
            8. 1 tsp, black peppercorn powder freshly ground
            9. 1 tsp, cumin seeds
            10. ½ tsp, basic garam masala
            11. Salt to taste
            12. ½ inch, piece of ginger grated
            13. 3-4, curry leaves
            14. 2 tbsp, fresh coriander leaves chopped
            How to make the Mixed Dal?
            1. In the same pot heat the oil
            2. Add onion slices and sauté it for 3-5 minutes
            3. Then add cumin seeds and stir it with onion slices
            4. Now add chopped tomato
            5. Let it dissolve with onion very well over low-medium flame
            6. Stir to mix and reduce the heat
            7. Now add all dry ingredients such as turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, citric acid and garam masala
            8. Stir to mix well
            9. Now add, green chillies, curry leaves, grated ginger and coriander leaves
            10. Further, stir to combine well
            11. Now add boiled dal (lentils) to the cooked spices
            12. Stir to mix well
            13. At this stage, you can adjust salt
            14. Now pour hot and boiled water
            15. Depending on your choice of how much you want to keep thick and thin dal consistency 
            16. Now bring it to boil
            17. Cover the lid and simmer it for 5 minutes
            18. Mixed dal is ready to serve with boiled ricerotinaan and pickles.....
