Kala Chana Masala is a delicious, wholesome, and spiced snack. It is one of my favorite hot snacks, which is served as a breakfast or as a snack. This is my family recipe; my mother used to cook it, especially during Ramadan. Complete instructions below
How to Serve It?
Some people eat this chole masala with boiled and bagara rice, which is usually served with yogurt,papdi, and onion salad with tomato that helps to enhance the taste of chole.
How can it be cooked?
This black chickpea is cooked with our traditional spices, which can be used in many other dishes. I have also been told to use the same spices in the different dishes in my previous recipes.

Firstly, soak the black chana by putting baking powder in it overnight. In the morning, rinse the kale chana under the running water. Put chickpeas in the pressure cooker, add 1/2 tsp salt and water, bring it to a boil, then close the pressure cooker.
Let it cook for 20-25 minutes after it starts to whistle
Once the kale chana is cooked, turn off the flame
Take all ingredients and prepare them.
Take out the yogurt from the bowl and whisk it well by adding a little salt, and set aside.
Add the onion to the oil, and saute the onion for 3-4 minutes.

Ingredients:
- 500g black chickpeas
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp mango po,wder amchur
- 1 cup of cooking oil
- 400ml, water
- 1 large onion
Special Chana Masala:
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- ½ tbsp black peppercorn
- 3 pieces of black cardamom
For Garnishing or Serving:
How to make Kala Chana Masala?
- In a wok/pan, heat the oil.
- Add onion slices and sauté for 3-4 minutes over medium heat
- Then add boiled chana
- Stir to mix well for 5 minutes
- Then add salt, red chili powder, mango powder, and special chana masala
- Stir to combine well
- Then add 1 cup of boiled and hot water to the kale chana masala
- Allow to cook till the chana gravy gets thick
- Turn off the flame
- Transfer to the serving plate/bowl
- Garnish with onion, green chilies, coriander, and tomato
- Kala chana is ready to serve with yogurt, boiled rice,papdi onion salad, and tea.
